Many homeowners like to have a beautiful garden but don’t have a green thumb. We can help you with a few gorgeous plants for your yard that are tough and will thrive even if you don’t have the time to take care of them.
Marigold
The Pot Marigold (Calendula) has bright yellow and orange blossoms that attract butterflies and bees. Calendulas are considered to be amongst the easiest and most versatile flowers to grow in a garden, especially since they can tolerate most soils. The plant grows to about 2 feet tall. Water them frequently, deadhead them to encourage prolonged blooming, and make sure you avoid getting water on the leaves to prevent mildew. (Deadheading a plant is removing the dead flower from the plant to encourage further blooming)
Hardy Geranium
Hardy Geraniums are incredibly tough and useful garden plants. The Geranium grows to about 2 feet tall, brightening up your garden with a variety of colors such as white, pink, purple or blue, often with distinctive veining. Do not over water your geraniums as this will result in root rot; allow the soil to dry up before you water them again. Geraniums also appreciate plenty of sun, and a little shade in the afternoon will stop them from going dormant in the summer.
Salvia
Salvia is a plant that will attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and even people! It is easy to take care of and maintain. Salvia plants may be annual or perennial; most grow rapidly and can tolerate the summer heat with more elegant spiky blooms. Many different colors derive from the plant Salvia such as purple, blue, red, and pink. A Salvia plant usually grows from roughly 10 inches to 5 feet. A fun fact about this great plant is that it can be classified as both a herb and a flower.
These hearty plants will grow in your garden with very little care and work. Plant and enjoy.
